Empowerment Programs

Soul Source Foundation has been sponsoring life-changing empowerment workshops since 2008 that harness the talent and creativity of local women to collectively build the capital they need to start and grow their business ventures.

Holistic Empowerment

Holistic Empowerment is done in conjunction with financial empowerment as a part of a four day workshop model developed by David Gershon and Gail Straub of the Empowerment Institute. This includes The seven areas of life and supporting Community relationships: Mental/learning/personal development, Vocational/career/business, Financial, Family, Social, Physical, and Spiritual.

Financial Empowerment

Our Empowerment Workshops provide training on financial literacy and entrepreneurship, including how to implement table banking. Table banking is a group-based finance program that pools funds from members so they can save and borrow from each other. This method is particularly important for women who otherwise have to depend on accessing funds from men, or borrowing from commercial banks that come with stricter requirements and harmful fees.

Enduring Impacts

With every Empowerment Workshop and women’s table banking group that Soul Source Foundation has helped resource, we hear from another group of passionate, hardworking women who want to go through this training. Further impact we are seeing is that by establishing these groups, women are able to access additional funding and support from local organizations to grow and sustain their entrepreneurial efforts.
