Operation My People: Education Program

Kamasengre Mixed Secondary School
Student Sponsorships
Each year, OMP raises tuition, daily meals, and uniforms for 40 students at Kamasengre Mixed Secondary School and the local public day high school.
Community Support
Young women from Rusinga Island and recent graduates from Kamasengre Mixed Secondary School are eligible for post-secondary and higher ed opportunities through OMP supported scholarships.
Eligible students receive comprehensive support in identifying programs in their desired field, guidance in applying for programs and government assistance, as well as securing housing and selecting coursework. This support continues through completing either degree or diploma and even into finding work and/or job placement. Some students even opt for further specialized education when funds are available.
Teacher Partnerships
In order to improve teacher sustainability with a living wage and smaller class sized, OMP contributes to subsidize teacher salaries for additional teachers that are paid for by the community, in addition to those sponsored by the government.
Technology Investments
Consistent WIFI access and equipment are made available for the school community as well as laptops for teachers.
